SSG Ryan Gamble

I first enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 2004, driven by a desire to do my part and support the War in Iraq that had just begun. Years later, I joined the Illinois Army National Guard to continue serving my country while staying closer to my family.

Throughout my career, I have served as a 92Y Unit Supply Specialist, holding assignments with:

  • C / HHB 3-13 FAR / DIVARTY 1st ID

  • HHC 1 ABCT 2nd ID

  • C Battery 5-7 ADA

  • 548th CSSB 10th MTN DIV

  • 3rd Brigade USAREC

  • Recruiting and Retention Battalion, Illinois Army National Guard

These experiences have strengthened my leadership skills, broadened my perspective, and deepened my commitment to service.

Recruiting Career

I became a recruiter for the Active Army in June 2018 and later joined the Illinois Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Battalion in November 2021.

I enjoy recruiting because it allows me to meet new people, hear their stories, and learn what motivates them to serve. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing those I’ve helped enlist grow in their careers — watching them develop as leaders and accomplish their goals through the Guard.

Civilian Life & Interests

Outside of uniform, I stay active in my community and family life. I coach my son’s little league team, powerlift competitively, and enjoy watching anime during my downtime.

My goal in joining both the Army and the Army National Guard has always been to help people — whether through leadership, mentorship, or guidance.

Recruiting allows me to do that on a personal level, helping individuals start a journey that is both mentally challenging and incredibly rewarding.

I look forward to helping you take that first step and can’t wait to see what you achieve. 🇺🇸
