SFC Eva Ortiz
I was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and joined the Army National Guard in September 2009.
Since childhood, I’ve always had a desire to serve — drawn to the structure, discipline, and purpose the military provides. Through the Guard, I not only earned my U.S. citizenship, but also had the opportunity to serve my country while staying close to my family.
I enlisted as a 92Y Unit Supply Specialist and deployed to Iraq. Over the years, I’ve served on multiple state activations and worked in Operations as part of a joint task force. I’ve had the honor of serving alongside a variety of distinguished units, including the 709th and 708th Medical Units, 65th Troop Command Brigade, 244th Digital Liaison Detachment, 260th Military Intelligence Battalion, 139th Public Affairs Detachment, 144th Army Band, and the Air National Guard.
Recruiting Career
I began my recruiting career in May 2022, and it has been both challenging and rewarding. I enjoy meeting new people every day and helping them take their first steps toward achieving something greater than themselves.
The most rewarding part of this job is helping others build confidence, resilience, and pride as they become part of something bigger — the National Guard family.
Civilian Life & Education
I earned my Associate in Arts degree from Heartland Community College. Outside of the uniform, I’m passionate about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — and yes, I’ve put a few people to sleep on the mats!
The Guard has given me an incredible life and the ability to support my family. We represent the elite 1% of the nation, and there’s immense pride and honor in that.
I look forward to welcoming you into our family — and maybe making you do a few (or all) of the push-ups along the way.
